Sana Nakata
Sana Nakata is Associate Professor in Political Science and Associate Dean, Indigenous, at the Faculty of Arts, University of Melbourne and co-director of the Indigenous-Settler Relations Collaboration. She is trained in the law and political theory of the Western tradition and calls an island that no one lives on anymore, home. She has held Australian Research Council grants, written and edited books and articles, but would rather be reading in a hammock or listening to her old peoples’ stories. A Torres Strait Islander, she is an invention of a 1939 Act of the Queensland Parliament and so much more. She believes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have always been the makers of future on this Country, and that we will be again.
